Maharashtra Govt. to impose 1% metro cess on property buys

A few urban areas in Maharashtra are set to observe an expansion in property costs as the Maharashtra government has plans to charge one extra percent of cess on stamp obligation from April 2022 onwards. An extra cess will be executed in Mumbai, Pune and Nagpur, to support the development of transport framework projects in the individual urban areas.

With the presentation of metro cess, the stamp obligation in Mumbai will go up to six percent. Also, in Pune and Nagpur, the presentation of metro cess will take the stamp obligation to seven percent, which is six percent at this moment.

Bhushan Gagrani, Principal Secretary, Urban Development Department, Government of Maharashtra, shared the arrangement to force a one percent metro cess on property buys from April 1 in Mumbai, Pune and Nagpur.

Industry bodies have unwanted the move. Shantilal Kataria, Vice President, CREDAI National, said the body would arrive at the State government with a request of rethinking the proposition. The choice would affect the home purchasing feeling in the said urban communities where property exchanges have been accounted for unequaled high. As of late, the property enlistments in Mumbai have outperformed the pre-COVID levels by an immense degree. Investigator General of Registration Maharashtra information shows that the city has enlisted more than 10,000 lodging units in February 2022.
